Natural Perfumes for Well-Being and Happiness

Can natural perfumes make you feel better? Yes they can!

When in scent molecules are inhaled, they travel from the olfactory nerves directly to the brain interacting with neurotransmitter receptors in the amygdala (the emotional center of the brain) to create “feel-good” chemicals like serotonin + dopamine.  Serotonin is a key hormone that stabilizes our mood, feelings of well-being and happiness. This hormone interacts with your entire body. It also enables brain cells and other nervous system cells to communicate with each other. Dopamine is the brain’s chemical messenger plays a key role in how we feel pleasure. The right balance of dopamine is vital for both physical + mental well- being.

But why create natural perfumes?

My journey to create our perfume line was very simple. Most of the perfumes out here usually smelled “artificial” and many times overpowering. I always loved the natural smells when you want into a beautiful flower shop. We live near the flower district in NYC and I loved just roaming around the area going into each shop. They surround you but not overwhelming….just simply beautiful. Thats what we wanted to create with our perfume line …the same instant uplifting yet refined effect. Being in NYC (and lack of greenery) sometimes I wanted to just be around nature and these beautiful scents especially after a tough day. I ALWAYS felt a bit better afterwards just getting a whiff of the combined scents. One thing I do believe is that the “state” your mind is in, the better your outlook, the better your reaction. So if just a scent can help lift your mood I’ll take that every single day.

In addition to “feel good” benefits the reality is although there could be some natural ingredients in traditional perfumes there are also “hidden” ingredients from animal products (ie musk from deer ) in addition to all sorts of other additives from petroleum by-products, resins + synthetic materials. These ingredients are all under the term “fragrance” so you never really know what you are directly putting on your skin. Research studies found chemicals used to make fragrances can be filled with allergens, hormone disruptors, asthma triggers, neurotoxins + carcinogens which can pass through from the skin into the blood.

All these factors prompted us to create our line of natural perfumes direct from nature. No chemicals, nothing synthetic, just good stuff from the earth. It’s all upside with natural perfumes. They smell beautiful + amazing. Our concentrated oils last all day + aromatherapy helps lift mood, relieve anxiety + stress.

WHAT I WEAR =  I know when I need a quick wake up (especially in the morning) I just put on little peppermint perfume and my mind feels more alert!  To it smells like a burst of peppermint candy. I just close my eyes and smell the peppermint as it clears my nasal passages + I’m awake. When Im going out for the night I put on Bliss perfume. It’s beautiful mix of rose geranium, rose and jasmine.  To me it’s absolutely gorgeous. It smells beautiful + fresh but not artificial. No one is going to stand around saying “somebody put too much perfume on” but it lasts all day.  I always get compliments when I wear these perfumes.  It’s a great go to gift because it’s also so unique.
